- Tawenduare
- Elder of two brothers, heroes of a Deluge story in the Tupi-Guarani Indian Creation Legend. The younger was named Arikute. The brothers having quarrelled, Tawenduare stamped his foot so hard on the ground that water gushed forth in a flood and the two brothers and their families were only saved by taking refuge in high trees. In another version Tawenduare is the god of the day who daily conquers his brother Arikute, the god of the night, in their continually repeated combat. Another version of this story is given under Irin Mage and Monan.
